Nature makes theme parks better, here's why
Просмотров 16 тыс.2 месяца назад
Theme parks can be found in nearly every corner of the globe. Mostly, they're all the same - they feature a collection of huge roller coasters, spinning rides, and tempting food stalls. The world’s best theme parks all have one thing in common, however. It’s not the rides or the exhaustingly long queues. It's nature. The trees, plants, and vegetation; water, lakes, and streams; all have a posit...
How to build the PERFECT roller coaster
Просмотров 16 тыс.3 месяца назад
Why do we like roller coasters? What is it that makes us wait sometimes hours to ride them? Surely it’s got something to do with their big drops, what about the blistering top speeds, or perhaps it's the unique feeling of being upside down. If you think about your favourite roller coasters, what is it that makes them good for you? What is it that makes a roller coaster not only exciting, but in...
The Coasters Wars - a battle to build the world's biggest roller coaster

The ‘Coaster Wars’ was an epic battle of theme parks that fought to build the world's best rides. So, what made the ‘Coaster Wars’ so influential? Rapid innovation. Roller coasters grew ever taller, and ever faster, thanks to fie...

Universal Studios has recently announced that they’re considering building a brand new large-scale theme park here in the UK - dubbed Universal Studios Great Britain. But can the UK even sustain a global destination resort? Will its current theme parks die off? And most importantly, why bui...

You can find Zadra, the world's tallest hybrid roller coaster at Poland's biggest theme park, Energylandia. The ride's most unique aspect is the fact it was funded by YOU, if you live in the European Union that is. So, how did Zadra come to be? Well, that’s an interesting story, crammed with failure, rapid expansion, and lots of free money from the European Union. TWITTER: coasterbo...

New Texas giant didn't have seat belts for redundancy because six flags didn't want them. Then someone died because their restraint came undone (rider too big for the ride) and they added them after since the seatbelt could have saved the passenger. Now it has seat belts for redundancy

Wait! Developed in 1963 in the US? Come off it, Developed in the UK in 1839 and enshrined in UK legislation in 1889 with the Lock Block and Brake act forcing all railway companies to have mechanical interlockings between occupied tracks and points, block section working, and continuous brakes along the entire train.

From someone who used to be terrified of rollercoasters the way I got over it was by going during Halloween believe it or not! It was literally as simple as I’d rather be on a roller coaster than on the ground being scared shitless by scare actors, literally because of that I got on two of the scariest rides second at the park and had so much fun!!

Thay can put new rides in place of the old Bespoke pit but at colossal expense as effectively thay would fill in parts of the pit and move Andor modify outher parts of the pit to make a new unique ride so effectively could see them do new configuration of the existing ride but make them more complex a ride like saw would be one that would work on a bigger scale with some parts being modified and extended to have Subterranean sections

It would be dope to have an amusement park that’s just all roller coasters with a few small rides for calm down in between, like a park with 20+ coasters and maybe a scrambler ride, or a gentle flying ride or entertainment ride just to settle down

You should see the system of emergency brakes used by trains. The brakes are still friction brakes, but they can be activated by permanent magnets on the track. Wire is wrapped around the permanent magnets on the track, and energizing the wire creates a field in the opposite direction of the permanent magnet, thus creating no net magnetic field, and this allows a train to pass over that track. If the wire is not energized because something has failed or because the train does not have authorization to enter that section of track, the permanent magnets on the track will pull the emergency brake on the train and bring the train to a screeching halt. I just wanted to mention that because I think it's interesting that magnets can be used for multiple things. We don't just use them for induction braking. They can be used to activate regular friction brakes too.

Alton Towers site makes it more magical, it also gives you a breather between rides. Went on Corkscrew when I was 7 and just about tall enough, Oblivion is still my fav. I can recommend the extended opening hours for 12 hours of roller coasters and sometimes no queues, then later when you're trying to go to sleep you get to continue riding them in your head lol Owning an EV is like having your own Rita when you're at the front of the traffic lights ;)

Well I dislocated my shoulder on stealth because I put my arms up before the launch and the force popped it out of its socket when it hit against the seat. I was 14 at the time, so very young and skinny. I still have problems in that shoulder to this day because of stealth and i'm 26 now lmao. I've been on it many times since but I just dont put my arms up lmao. Doesn't really make sense to on that ride at the beginning anyway.

getting ready to make a return to a local amusement park and watching these videos really is helping settle any doubts in my mind created by my acrophobia. i swear it can be so bad at times that i feel shakey by myself on a 6 foot ladder. only someone holding it makes me feel safer. going on these rides will be a hell of a tailspin for my mind. last time i went to this park i was about 7 years old and not as terrified of heights so not entirely sure where and when i developed this insane fear, let alone how it happened. but little by little i think roller coasters will help me work thru some of it. granted i will likely still be shitting myself most of each ride lol

@11:30 - To be clear, what's described here is actually something roller coast junkies pray for. They would PAY for it. It's called a "rollback" and the OG Top Thrill Dragster is (was) known it. If the weight was right and the wind was right, the car would stall out before cresting the top of the arc, allowing it to free fall backward to where it started. It's one of those super rare events that people prayed for b/c it was such a unique and thrilling moment. Cedar Point listened to them and when they made Top Thrill 2, they designed it to purposely incorporate a rollback as part of the ride. For those who don't know Top Thrill 2, it's a mag launch coaster. You get launched forward with enough speed to get 1/2 way up the main tower. You then free fall backward to where you started and while going backward they activate the mag launch *in reverse*, increasing your negative velocity to 100 mph. This shoots you up another tower behind the coaster that goes straight up so you're facing the ground. Gravity stops you and you free fall forward back to where you started, where they mag launch you a THIRD time, this time shooting the cart 120 MPH down the rail, sending you over a 420 foot crest with a bunch of twists. You go shooting straight down the other side and eventually end up back where you started. It...looks...amazing!!!
